Whole Chicken – Large

A true pasture-raised whole bird built for roasting, smoking, or breaking down at home.

Each large whole chicken weighs approximately 4 lbs., with a natural range of 3.5–4.5 lbs. These birds are raised with real pasture access and a carefully sourced non-GMO feed protocol, giving you a clean, flavorful whole chicken suitable for roasting, grilling, or slow cooking. If you cook whole birds regularly, our Buy More, Save More options make stocking your freezer more practical.

How They're Raised:

  • Early Brooding Period: Raised indoors for the first 3 weeks until strong enough for outdoor life.
  • Pasture Access: Moved to large, mobile pasture runs for the following 6 weeks with fresh grass daily.
  • Non-GMO Feed: Carefully formulated feed containing non-GMO grains and legumes.
  • Small USDA Processing: Processed at a USDA-certified facility in New Plymouth.
  • Cooperative Raised: Lovingly raised by a like-minded producer in Emmett using the same standards and feed protocol.

Feed Composition:

  • Ground Non-GMO Corn – 25.32%
  • Roasted Cull Beans – 18.56%
  • Cull Peas – 24.90%
  • Non-GMO Soybean Oil – 3.18%
  • Premix (Vitamins) – 3.41%
  • Wheat – 24.63%

While not certified organic, this feed is non-GMO and formulated specifically for proper poultry nutrition. Chickens raised on pasture differ significantly from confinement-raised birds — they have daily access to fresh grass and natural forage such as bugs, contributing to their overall quality and flavor.

Why You'll Love It:

  • True Pasture Access: Birds receive fresh grass daily during their outdoor phase.
  • Non-GMO Feed Protocol: Carefully sourced ingredients for consistent nutrition.
  • Whole Bird Value: One purchase provides multiple meals — breast, thighs, wings, and broth from the carcass.
  • Versatile Cooking: Roast whole, spatchcock for the grill, or break down into parts.
  • Buy More, Save More: Save when purchasing 5-pack or 10-pack options.

How to Cook:

  • Roast Whole: Season and roast at 425°F until internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part.
  • Spatchcock: Remove backbone and flatten for faster, more even cooking.
  • Slow Cook: Ideal for tender shredded chicken and homemade broth.
  • Break Down: Cut into parts for multiple meals from a single bird.
