Each package contains approximately 3.5 lb. of pasture-raised pork back fat. This is the premium fat used for rendering high-quality lard at home.

Properly rendered lard is neutral, clean-tasting, and incredibly versatile. It can be used for frying, baking, sautéing, and traditional cooking applications where stable, natural fat is preferred.

How to Render Lard:

  • 1. Chop or Grind: Cut fat into small cubes or run through a grinder for faster, even rendering.
  • 2. Low & Slow Heat: Place fat in a heavy pot or slow cooker over very low heat. Do not let it brown.
  • 3. Stir Occasionally: Allow the fat to slowly melt and separate from the solids.
  • 4. Strain: Once fully melted and lightly golden, strain through cheesecloth into clean jars.
  • 5. Cool & Store: Let cool to solidify. Store refrigerated or frozen for long-term use.

When rendered gently, the finished lard will be smooth, white, and clean tasting. Avoid high heat to prevent discoloration or strong flavor.
