Fire threat closes I-84 & delays food deliveries

Scroll down to watch a video capturing how a 2024 massive wildfire closes I-84 when two major fires, the Durkee Fire and Cow Valley Fire, converge.

The effect of these massive fires is tragic as more than 300,00 acres burn farm land, force evacuations, threaten power outages, and spur high winds leaving destruction behind.

This tragic wildfire event is active and continues at the writing of this blog as people and livestock are forced to relocate, farmers continue to sacrifice much needed hay and grasses engulfed in flames, leaving scarred landscapes vulnerable to flooding and animals without grazing land.

While Oregon and Idaho share in the mass exodus to escape this massive fire, there is also a damaging trickle down effect as trucks with necessary goods for business and people are unable to travel on I84 during forced closures as the fires threaten the safety and inhibit travel on these routes.

At Cliff's our food deliveries miraculously arrived on the day expected this week, but were delayed by many hours. We are thankful to our faithful truck drivers for adjusting their schedules and pushing limits to provide us with The Food You Can Trust at Cliff's.

However, many people are experiencing far greater impacts as this massive fire continues to grow and weather conditions are ripe for more severe outcomes. We will continue to add to this blog as this is an active event.

The electric company has warned counties from Oregon through Boise that power outages are imminent as 50-70 /mile winds are predicted to move smoke and fire into unknown territory in the next 24 hours.
